the film was released in 1974, it didn’t just make actress Sylvia
Kristel an international star, it re-defined the language, style &
look of mainstream erotic cinema for decades to come. It became one of
the most profitable French films ever made.
But
EMMANUELLE was never without controversy. The film will be preceded by
EMMANUELLE IN ONTARIO, a new short documentary produced by Eric
Veillette for Severin Films, examining the strange & fascinating
history of Ontario film censorship, and how the censors treated
EMMANUELLE in November, 1974.
Featuring a video introduction by legendary Emmanuelle co-star Marika Green, who also starred in Bresson’s Pickpocket (1959).
